8/10/2006 10:59 AM Eastern

Starting with the kickoff of ABC's college-football season Sept. 2, all of the broadcast network’s sports programming will be branded ESPN on ABC, AP reported.

College Football Countdown Sept. 2 will start things off, followed by regional gridiron clashes, according to AP.

Then the first primetime college-football series on broadcast television, Saturday Night Football, will debut at 8 p.m. with Notre Dame at Georgia Tech, according to AP.

“ESPN has been infused with ABC Sports' history of innovation, and we are committed to building upon that legacy as we continue to serve fans and our partners more effectively through ESPN on ABC,” ESPN and ABC Sports president and Disney Media Networks co-chairman George Bodenheimer told AP.
