ESPNEWS Tops 50M; Papa Proud6/27/2006 9:27 AM Eastern
ESPNEWS reached 50 million full-time households this month, according to Nielsen Media Research.
ESPN also announced that John Papa was promoted to vice president of programming and acquisitions for ESPN Classic and ESPNEWS.
ESPNEWS’ household total was up 25% from 40 million homes in March 2004, according to Nielsen.
Papa had been overseeing day-to-day operations for ESPN’s international programming department. In his new role, he will oversee program acquisitions and programming strategy for ESPN Classic, as well as developing new initiatives with affiliate sales and marketing, ad sales and marketing for ESPN Classic and ESPNEWS.
