Fox Creates Engineering & Operations Division

Fox Networks Group Tuesday announced the creation of the Fox Networks Engineering & Operations unit.

The new division, based in Los Angeles, will oversee all network engineering and operations for Fox Broadcasting Co., Fox Cable Networks Group and Fox Sports.

Richard M. Friedel was named executive vice president and general manager of the division, and he will supervise all broadcast and transmission operations, production and postproduction, field operations, engineering and facility-service activities. He had been senior VP, engineering and operations at Fox Digital.

Andrea Berry was named senior VP of broadcast operations at Fox NE&O. She has responsibility for all broadcast and transmission operations, including quality control, for Fox Broadcasting, Fox Sports, Fox Sports Net, FX, Fox Movie Channel, National Geographic Channel, Fuel, Speed Channel and Fox Sports International.

Berry had been with Fox Sports, and she will retain oversight responsibility for Fox Sports and FSN broadcast field operations.

Other Fox NE&O appointments include: Tim Sweeney as VP and GM of the technical-operations center in Houston; Tedd Rosenfeld as senior VP of production and postproduction; Jim Hopkins as senior VP of engineering; Paul Beeman as senior VP of broadband and satellite transmission; Todd Daly as VP of production and broadcast operations; and Monte Kuklenski as VP of staging services and facilities.
