HBO’s Game of Thrones and Fox News once again dominated the weekly cable ratings charts, according to Nielsen.

The Aug. 6 episode of Game of Thrones set an all-time viewership record for the fantasy series – now in its seventh season – drawing 10.2 million viewers, according to HBO and Nielsen. The episode easily dwarfed the 3.2 million viewers generated by second-place finisher, USA Network’s WWE Monday Night Raw, during the week of July 31 to Aug. 6, Nielsen said.

On the network side, Fox News Channel won its 11th straight weekly primetime ratings crown, averaging 2.1 million viewers for the period. MSNBC was second with 1.7 million viewers, followed by a third place tie between USA Network and HGTV, both averaging 1.4 million viewers.

TBS finished fifth with 1.2 million viewers, followed by History, Investigation Discovery, CNN and A&E (all tied with 1 million viewers); and FX (899,000).

FNC also captured top honors on a total day basis for the 31st consecutive week, according to Nielsen.

USA topped the primetime charts among viewers 18-49, while Adult Swim was the top choice in the demo on a 24-hour basis, Nielsen said.
