Fox Sports 1 Delivers Its Best-Ever Week in Primetime, Total-DayNational Cable Net Scores Top Telecast with 2.1M Viewers for Baylor-Oklahoma 11/14/2013 12:27 PM Eastern
Buoyed by its largest audience ever with a top 10 college football matchup, plus UFC and NASCAR events, Fox Sports 1 registered its top week with the Nielsens.
The national sports service averaged 630,000 viewers in primetime and 157,000 on a total-day basis from Nov. 4-10, according to Nielsen data. Those deliveries surpassed the FS1’s 384,000 primetime viewers and 153,000 total-day audience from Aug. 26-Sept. 1, said network officials. Moreover, the performance topped the prime and 24-hour averages of predecessor service Speed during fourth-quarter 2012 by 237% and 60%, respectively.
For the week, FS1 finished 34th in primetime and 56th in total-day among basic-cable networks, according to Nielsen data.
FS1 tackled its biggest audience to date with its Nov. 7 college football presentation of then sixth-ranked Baylor’s 41-12 win over No.-10 Oklahoma: the game averaged 2.1 million viewers beating the service’s previous record of 1.8 million viewers for a UFC Fight Night on launch day, Aug. 17. Baylor-Oklahoma also surpassed every college football game that aired on FX during the 2011 and 2012 campaigns.
The channel also pinned its top Wednesday-night performance with UFC Fight for the Troops on Nov. 6, averaging 641,000 viewers and added 81,000 more UFC Fight Night on Saturday, Nov. 9.
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series from Phoenix on Nov. 8 garnered 602,000 viewers, up 4% from its 578,000 delivery on Speed last November. Through 10 NCWTS races, Fox Sports 1 has posted an 11% gain to 729,000 viewers on average viewership from 657,000 on Speed in the year-before span.
News program Fox Sports Live scored its best weeknight viewership for its first and second hours, averaging 161,000 and 85,000 watchers, respectively. The Nov. 7, show, which lead out of Oklahoma-Baylor, and the Nov. 8 airing, following the Phoenix NCWTS race, now stand as the two most-watched weeknight episodes of Fox Sports Live to date with 341,000 and 285,000 viewers respectively.
