Freeform Greenlights ‘Alone Together’ for Series Run

Freeform has picked up scripted comedy series Alone Together, the network said Thursday.

The series stars Esther Povitsky (Lady Dynamite, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) and Benji Aflalo (Not Safe with Nikki Glaser) as platonic best friends who want nothing more than to be accepted by the vain and status-obsessed culture, said network officials.

Povitsky and Aflalo serve as writers and executive producers along with Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone, Akiva Schaffer, Billy Rosenberg and Hunter Covington, said the network.

“We are so proud of this series as it perfectly embodies the evolving Freeform brand and our dedication to programming for the 20-something viewer,” said Karey Burke, executive vice president, Programming and Development for Freeform in a statement. “Our audience will quickly fall in love as we did with real-life best friends Esther and Benji, who navigate a world of perfect 10s as self-proclaimed 6s."
