FSN Ohio, SportsTime Ohio Engage In Fantasy Battle6/26/2009 12:12 PM Eastern
The Cleveland Indians and the Cincinnati Reds aren't the only teams battling for bragging rights this weekend.
Fans of the Major League Baseball teams can engage in a little fantasy hardball on June 27 through Fox Sports Ohio, which carries the Reds, and SportsTime Ohio, regional sports network home of the Tribe, during the inaugural "1-71 Challenge.".
During Reds Live, Fox Sports Ohio's pregame show prior to the June 27 game at 6:30pm, Cincinnati fans will have the opportunity to text in their votes for the top three players they want to represent the RSN's fantasy squad. Similarly, Cleveland supporters can text in their top three picks during the Indians On-Deck pregame show. Viewers may vote as many times as they choose; standard text messaging rates will apply.
As the Reds and Indians battle during the game at Progressive Field, the two networks' fantasy teams will accumulate points through each selected player's at-bat statistics as well as the final outcome of the game. The scoring is as follows: single:1 point; double; 2 points; triple: 3 points; home run: 4 points; RBI: 2 points; stolen base: 1 point; run; 2 points; and winning team: 3 points.
While viewers at home can play along in the I-71 Challenge, scoring updates will be posted throughout the game on both networks. The winning network will be announced during Saturday's post-game shows.
Additionally, the networks' broadcast teams will swap during the 3rd inning of the contest. Indians color analyst Rick Manning will visit Reds play-by-play announcer Chris Welsh in the Fox Sports Ohio booth, while Reds color analyst George Grande will pair up with STO's play-by-play man Al Pawlowski.
