FX Inks TV Production Deal With Alex Garland

FX Productions has signed writer/director/producer Alex Garland to an exclusive television production deal.

Under the new deal, Garland – who was nominated for a 2016 Academy Award for his work on the sci-fi film Ex Machina -- will develop, write and produce television projects exclusively for FX Productions, according to company officials.

Along with Ex Machina, which garnered Garland a DGA Award and three BAFTA Award nominations, Garland’s other film work includes 28 Days Later, Sunshine, Never Let Me Go, Dredd the forthcoming Annihilation, said FX. 

"Alex’s gifts as a writer have long been apparent, and he made a huge impression with his directorial debut Ex Machina. We are thrilled that he is bringing his talents as a writer and director to television through FX Productions,” said FX Networks and FX Productions co-president of original programming Eric Schrier in a prepared statement. “We have enormous respect for his uncompromising creative vision and we look forward to supporting his original and bold ideas.”
