GSN Greenlights 'American Bible Challenge' For Third Season

GSN has renewed its highly-rated game show The American Bible Challenge for a third season, the network announced Thursday.

The one-hour game show, hosted by comedian Jeff Foxworthy in which contestants compete based on their knowledge of the Bible, will return to the network in 2014 with nine episodes, according to network officials. Grammy-winning gospel singer/writer Kirk Franklin will also return for the show’s third season.

The American Bible Challenge set a network record in its Aug. 23 debut, garnering 1.7 million total viewers. The second season of the series, which premiered this past March, increased season-to-season viewership among women 18 to 49 and 25 to 54 by 34% and 17%, respectively, according to the network.

“We are proud of the breakthrough success of this atypical series,” said Amy Introcaso-Davis, executive vice president of programming and development for GSN in a statement.  “The American Bible Challenge is GSN’s flagship show that appeals to everyone in the family.”
