History Sets Veterans Day Fare10/20/2005 6:50 AM Eastern
The History Channel has planned a special day of programming for Veterans Day.
The network will start things off Thursday, Nov. 10 at 10 p.m. with Citizen Soldiers, a look at the National Guard and the Army Reserves.
The next day, at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., History will air The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors, the story of a tiny U.S. fleet that staged the greatest upset victory in the history of naval warfare while battling the Japanese fleet off the Philippines.
A special edition of Mail Call, Mail Call: Ermey's Vietnam, will air Friday, Nov. 11 at 8 p.m. U.S. Marine Corps Drill Instructor R. Lee Ermey (Full Metal Jacket) will return to Vietnam for the first time in 35 years and tour The Ho Chi Minh Trail, The Hanoi Hilton, Freedom Hill, Danang Air Base and Camp Evans.
Finally, Heroes Under Fire: Jungle Ambush will air at 10 p.m. It tells the story of top-secret United States Special Forces who cross into Laos during the Vietnam War and fall into a deadly trap.
