Holt to Host Kaitz; No Honoree Yet7/20/2005 10:30 AM Eastern
The Walter Kaitz Foundation Wednesday named MSNBC anchor Lester Holt to host its 22nd-annual fund-raising dinner Sept. 14, but it has yet to announce an honoree for the event.
Holt, co-anchor of NBC’s TodayWeekend Edition, will serve as master of ceremonies for the dinner, which raises funds to support organizations committed to the cause of diversity within the industry.
Comcast Corp. chairman and CEO Brian Roberts and Disney Media Networks co-chairman George Bodenheimer will serve as co-chairs for the event, which will be held in New York.
The organization, however, has not settled on an honoree for the event.
In the past, Kaitz has honored top MSO and industry executives, as well as industry advocacy organizations, for their contributions to the industry’s diversity-related efforts.
Last year’s honorees were former California Cable Television Association president and Kaitz Foundation founder Spencer Kaitz, as well as the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications, Women in Cable & Telecommunications and The Emma L. Bowen Foundation for Minority Interests in Media.
A spokesman for the National Cable Television Association, which oversees the Kaitz Foundation, said the organization “will have an announcement soon” regarding this year’s honorees.
