IFC Set to Punk Film Festivals5/04/2005 9:56 AM Eastern
The Independent Film Channel’s Punk: attitude, the network’s latest original documentary, will be showcased at a pair of film festivals this month.
The film -- which takes an in-depth look at the roots of the punk-rock movement and its impact on popular culture -- will screen Thursday at the American Film Institute’s Fourth Annual Music Documentary series in Los Angeles and at the Seattle International Film Festival May 26.
“IFC is thrilled to bring Punk: attitude into the festival arena, where audiences can experience the true punk attitude that [director Don Letts’] film and the network represent,” vice president of original programming Alison Bourke said in a prepared statement.
“Film festivals allow us to reach both our core audience and to incite a network of young people who share the do-it-yourself attitude that punk music revolutionized and that IFC continues to exemplify today,” she added.
Punk: attitude will premiere on IFC July 9 as part of the service’s “Punk Night,” also featuring SLC Punk and a special episode of the network’s Henry's Film Corner, hosted by Henry Rollins.
