Kids Get Their Kicks with Jetix

With an assist from four of this nation’s best soccer players, kids from 16 countries will get to showcase their fútbol talents under the Jetix programming alliance.

Taping of the Jetix Kids Cup (formerly the Fox Kids Cup) took place at the Manchester Untied Soccer School at Disneyland Resort Paris last week and will air on ABC and ABC Family July 31 and Aug. 1, respectively.

The telecast chronicles the annual global kids’ soccer tournament, where 256 boys and girls from 16 countries participate in five days of competition culminating in a five-a-side championship soccer game designed to promote fair play, sportsmanship, cultural exchange and fun.

This year's competition marks the first event of the joint international kids’ programming alliance between ABC Cable Networks Group, Fox Kids Europe and Fox Kids Latin America (these international networks are now being transitioned to the Jetix channel name, while the action-adventure programming block also airs on ABC Family and Toon Disney in the United States).

Freddy Adu, the 15-year-old Major League Soccer prodigy; U.S. World Cup star Landon Donovan; U.S. Women’s national team member Lorrie Fair; and U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame inductee Eric Wynalda will provide commentary, game analysis and tips.
