Less Oxygen for Oprah10/06/2005 4:54 AM Eastern
Oprah Winfrey’s show on Oxygen has been cut back from a daily to a once-per-week schedule, officials confirmed Thursday.
Oprah After the Show is now only airing Fridays at 7 p.m., rather than five nights per week in that time slot. Winfrey’s 30-minute Oxygen program is filmed right after her daytime talk show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, and it depicts her chatting with her guests and audience members that very day.
Winfrey is an investor in Oxygen, which began airing Oprah After the Show in 2002.
An Oxygen spokeswoman said the transition of Oprah After the Show to a weekly time frame was done to accommodate Winfrey’s schedule.
Even though the show will now only air once per week, Oxygen has extended its agreement to run it for another year, the spokeswoman added. The original contract for Oprah After the Show was only until 2006, but it has now been extended to 2007.
