MBC Mulls Reid for Top Spot

&?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />&o:p>&/o:p>Former Discovery Health general manager Bob Reid has surfaced as a potential candidate for Major Broadcasting Corp.’s newly-created president and CEO slot.

Reid, who left Discovery Health last January, has been consulting with the African-American targeted network over the last few months, but has not taken an official role with the service.

Neither Reid nor MBC executives could be reached for comment by press time.

If MBC lands Reid, it would be the second major executive coup in as many months for the 11 million-subscriber service.

In April, MBC tapped place Hollywood producer/actor Robert Townsend as its president of original productions, part of an overall network overhaul that will include a name change and greater emphasis on more reality and variety programming.
