MCN Review: 'Documentary Now!'

RELATED:IFC Adds Two Seasons of 'Documentary Now'

Documentary Now! combines well-constructed parodies of such famed docs as Grey Gardens and Nanook of the North with the extemporaneous comedy of stars Fred Armisen and Bill Hader to create laugh-out-loud TV.

Armisen, Hader and Seth Meyers are cocreators, executive producers and writers and recruit such guest stars as John Slattery and Jack Black.

Black plays a Shane Smith-like host of a Vice-like gonzo news show in the second episode, Dronez: The Hunt for El Chingon, which is playing now on Vice.com and numerous other platforms, including IFC.com, YouTube, Dish channel 102 and IFC’s TV-everywhere extensions. Dame Helen Mirren solemnly introduces each episode.
