MSGN's Twitter Sweepstakes Gives Winner a Chance to Eat, Meet with 'Clyde'

MSG Networks will tip off a Twitter-tied sweepstakes assisted by its resident wordsmith, Walt “Clyde” Frazier.

“The Tweet & Repeat Clyde Sweepstakes” will cover 13 select New York Knicks telecasts on MSG Network over the course of the 2013-14, season beginning on Nov. 13, when the NBA team battles the Atlanta Hawks. The Basketball Hall of Famer and MSGN analyst -- known for his on-air rhyming, think “posting and toasting” -- will encourage viewers to tweet their favorite Frazier phrases during the games using the hashtag #Tweet&Repeat and make suggestions for him to use during the telecast. A host of game prizes and a grand package will be dispensed to the winners.

“Clyde is a beloved Knick and announcer and his unique turns of phrase seemed like a natural to build the sweepstakes around,” saidMSG Networks general manager and executive vice president Daniel Ronayne in an interview. “Getting viewers involved with social media should enhance the fan experience.”

Ronayne notes that Knicks and Madison Square Garden fans have long embraced Frazier, whose unique fashion sense is also put on display with “Clyde’s Closet” segments that air on MSGN, as well as the transformed Madison Square Garden’s new video board, moored over the hardwood court. “Fans enjoy Clyde talking about his sartorial choices and we think ‘The Tweet & Repeat Sweepstakes’ will stir interaction,” he said.

Participants will be eligible for nightly prizes, including Frazier-autographed basketballs, with the winners selected at random.

The grand prize winner at the end of the schedule will receive dinner for four at Clyde Frazier’s Wine and Dine restaurant at 37th and 10th Avenue in Manhattan, four tickets to an upcoming Knicks game and a photo with the two-time NBA champion at center court of MSG.

For his part, Frazier’s customary ebullience has been enhanced by the chance the sweepstakes affords his followers – and he’s ready to up his game.

“I’m glad fans will have a chance to swish, dish, and reminisce with this promotion,” said Frazier.  “I’m going back to the dictionary so I can break out some pristine and inimitable phrases.”
