National Geographic Channel's new reality series Wicked Tuna reeled in more than 1 million viewers in its Sunday night debut.

The premiere episode of the series, which follows fisherman as they look to capture big fish off the New England coast, averaged 1.1 million total viewers and 584,000 viewers among the adult 25-54 demo, according to network officials. The network drew strong viewership for the series despite pre-premiering the first episode in its entirety on Facebook, iTunes and Dish Network as well as through its own website, said network officials.

Wicked Tuna is Nat Geo's best series premiere since February when the network's Doomsday Preppers reality series drew 1.29 million viewers in its Feb. 7 debut, according to Nielsen.
