Netflix Reaches Streaming Deal For FX's ‘American Crime Story’

Netflix has acquired streaming rights to FX’s anthology series American Crime Story as part of a subscription video on demand licensing deal between Netflix and 20th Century Fox Television Distribution.

The deal calls for Netflix to stream the series beginning with The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, which aired on FX earlier this year and will launch on the OTT service in 2017, said Netflix.

The second season of America Crime Story focusing on Hurricane Katrina will debut on FX next year, said the network.

“We’re excited to evolve our relationship with Fox and to bring their lauded content to our members around the world,” said Sean Carey, Vice President of Global Television in a statement. “Given the popularity of the first season of American Crime Story, we are thrilled to offer this acclaimed drama series to our members.”
