New Cable Nets Receive GLAAD Media Award Nominations

BBC America, MSNBC, Lifetime Among Cable Nets Garnering Multiple Nominations 1/31/2014 12:12 PM Eastern

Recently-launched cable networks Pivot and Al Jazeera English garnered GLAAD Awards nominations as cable continued to garner recognition for its diverse and inclusive programming.

Millennnials-targeted network Pivot’s original series Please Like Me (pictured) and talk show Raising McCain, as well as  Al Jazeera English’s news magazine The Stream drew nominations for the GLAAD Media Awards, which recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, according to GLAAD.

Overall, MSNBC garnered four nominations to lead all cable networks, while CNN, ABC Family, BBC America, and Lifetime drew multiple GLAAD Media Award nods. The Awards will be held April 12 in Los Angeles and May 3 in New York.
