Nick Hires SVP of Development, Programming

Veteran production and development executive Tracy Katsky joined Nickelodeon in the newly created position of senior vice president of development and original programming, officials said Monday.

In her new role, Katsky will oversee all of Nickelodeon’s ongoing live-action and animation program development and live-action current series production activities on the West Coast.

Katsky will report to Marjorie Cohn, Nick’s executive vice president of development and original programming.

“Tracy is highly-regarded in the creative community and brings with her a tremendous expertise,” Cohn said in a prepared statement. “Her enthusiasm and fresh take on kids’ programming will perfectly compliment our team.”

Katsky will be responsible for all new series development for Nickelodeon and Nick at Nite, as well as oversee all live action shows currently on the air.

Prior to joining Nickelodeon, Katsky was senior vice president of development for HBO Independent Productions. From 2000 to 2003, Katsky was senior vice president of comedy for Fox Broadcasting, where she oversaw comedy development.

Some of the series developed and produced under her aegis include The Bernie Mac Show, Arrested Development, Andy Richter Controls the Universe, Cedric the Entertainer, Greg the Bunny, Undeclared and The Simple Life.

Before joining Fox, Katsky was a senior vice president at Regency Television, where she ran the comedy department, responsible for all elements of development and production on comedy projects, including the series Malcolm in the Middle. She has also served on several shows in different producer capacities, including Help Me Help You (Regency Television for ABC) and Lucky Louie (HBO), among others.

Born in Los Angeles, Katsky graduated from Bennington College. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Linwood Boomer, and their crazy hoard of children.
