Nick Inks Big Deal with Lil’ JJ

Actor and comedian Lil’ JJ is making it big with Nickelodeon.

The 15-year-old signed a development deal with Nick Movies, and the network green-lighted his pilot, Nick announced Friday.

Lil’ JJ was the grand-prize winner of Black Entertainment Television’s Coming to the Stage comedy-competition series, he signed a talent-holding deal with Nick in January. He currently hosts the network’s Friday Night Slimetime.

“After watching JJ’s star rise on Nick this year, we knew that we wanted to be in business with him on the film side," Nickelodeon Movies senior vice president Julia Pistor said in a prepared statement.

Nick executive VP of development and original programming Marjorie Cohn added, “Once we saw JJ and heard his unique kid point of view, we knew he was a star for Nick. We've found the perfect vehicle for his comedic voice and, partnered with the talents of show creator Alison Taylor, we feel we have a hit in the making to add to our live-action stable.”
