Gemstar-TV Guide International Inc. has promoted Ryan O’Hara to president of its TVG Network.
O’Hara was named chief operating officer of TVG -- the interactive horse-racing service that reaches some 12.5 million subscribers -- in February after serving as senior vice president, business development and strategic planning for Gemstar-TV Guide since June 2002.
As president, O’Hara will oversee the network’s programming, wagering, financial, legal and advertising sales; manage TVG’s content relationships with track partners; and coordinate with Gemstar-TV Guide’s affiliate-sales group to secure long-term carriage deals.
He continues to report to Gemstar-TV Guide CEO Jeff Shell, and he is based in TVG’s Los Angeles office.
“TVG is one of our most promising and innovative businesses, which, in the past year, has made tremendous strides in distribution and is poised to continue to be a leader in interactive television,” Shell said in a prepared statement.
“Since coming to Gemstar-TV Guide two years ago, Ryan has played a central role in furthering TVG’s growth, and he is the perfect person to lead TVG as we continue widening its footprint as the leading interactive horse-racing network,” he added.
