USA Net Renews 'Dead Zone,' 'Psych'
New York — USA Network is bringing back The Dead Zone for a sixth season and Psych for a second season.
The network ordered 13 one-hour episodes of Dead Zone from Lionsgate. Production on the sixth season of the show, starring Anthony Michael Hall as Johnny Smith, a man who wakes up from a coma to discover he has psychic powers, will begin early next year, in time for a summer debut. Paired with The 4400 this past summer on Sunday nights, Dead Zone delivered 2.8 million total viewers on average for the premiere of new installments, including 1.5 million adults 18 to 49.
As for breakout hit Psych, USA ordered 16 one-hour installments. The show, starring James Roday who helps cops solve crimes by faking that he is a psychic, averaged 5.1 million total viewers for the premiere of its eight-week first season. Following Monk, Psych — which improved upon the quirky detective show's performance among adults 18 to 34 and 18 to 49 — easily made USA cable's top destination on Friday nights.
