Reality Central Is Now Reality 24-7

Reality Central is adopting a new moniker, Reality 24-7, officials said Thursday.

Officials at the start-up, slated to formally launch early next year, said the new name was chosen to better reflect the network’s commitment to all aspects of reality television, with 75% of its schedule now committed to original programming.

“Reality 24-7 is a perfect fit with how we’ve evolved our concept,” cofounder and CEO Larry Namer said in a prepared statement. “As both the genre and the technology available to us have grown, so have our plans and, in turn, our name.”

Reality 24-7 has developed video-on-demand, subscription-VOD and broadband offerings as well as its linear network.

The network also appointed three veteran executives to its board: William Morris Agency CEO Jim Wiatt; Lucie Sulhany, former chairman of Fox Broadcasting Co. and former president of UPN, which she launched; and David Simonoff, a research analyst/portfolio manager who just retired from Capital Research and Management Co.
