Reality TV Adds U.S. Debut Fare4/28/2004 3:45 AM Eastern
Reality TV, which launched on EchoStar Communications Corp.’s Dish Network in December, is buttressing its programming lineup with a quintet of first-run series and a special that have never aired in the United States before.
Among the new series debuting on Reality TV from now until June are: Taking It Off, chronicling the hardships and triumphs of six people trying to lose weight; Dream Factory, following the fortunes of young people pursuing Hollywood stardom; Lad’s Army, a situation reality show imported from England, where 30 young men undergo four weeks of training that was compulsory under the National Service 50 years ago; Girl Cops, a five-part series following the lives of distaff officers in crime capitals around the globe; and Hospital, a 12-parter taking viewers inside the corridors and operating rooms of Wellington Hospital in New Zealand.
Also on tap: Flight 703 -- The Survivors, a documentary featuring interviews with the survivors of the Ansett Dash-8 crash of 1995.
