Seven Months in Jail for Ex-HBO Exec

A former Home Box Office executive is about to spend seven months away from home.

Ex-director of print services Michele Komack -- who was sentenced to three years and one month of home detention after admitting that she received more than $400,000 in kickbacks from printing vendors -- received the jail term after making false statements to her probation officer and violating home detention by conducting business activities outside of her home, the Department of Justice said in a news release, according to AP.

U.S. District Judge Kevin Castel originally rejected federal sentencing guidelines calling for a prison term of more than three years after concluding that Komack was needed at home to care for her ill daughter, AP reported.

Komack admitted receiving $439,000 in kickbacks from September 1997-February 1999 from an Englewood, N.J.-based, company in exchange for HBO printing contracts, according to AP.
