Sling TV’s Cloud DVR Rolls to Apple TV Boxes

Sling TV said it has extended access to its Cloud DVR service on Apple TV boxes under the OTT TV provider’s “First Look” program.

The program enables Sling TV subs to add a Cloud DVR service (with 50 hours of storage) for an additional $5 per month.

Sling TV has previously extended the paid Cloud DVR program to subs who stream the service on Roku devices (players and Roku TVs), Android TV devices, Amazon Fire TV boxes and sticks, Amazon Fire tablets, and Android smartphones and tablets.

Sling TV said it expects to extend Cloud DVR access to more devices in the coming weeks.

Sling TV has previously confirmed that its original Cloud DVR beta testers won’t be charged, and will continue to have access to 100 hours of DVR storage during the beta period.

Sling TV launched a beta trial of its Cloud DVR late last year.

Among virtual MVPDs, YouTube TV, now available in five markets, fuboTV and PlayStation Vue all offer cloud DVR options with different capabilities and limitations.  DirecTV Now has a cloud DVR on its roadmap, and Comcast offers a cloud DVR service via its X1 platform.
