TNT Garners 8.1 Million Viewers for Game 4 of Pacers-HeatCoverage Leads Network to Top Spot in Primetime on Tuesday 5/30/2013 6:26 AM Eastern
TNT continues to score with its coverage of the 2013 NBA Eastern Conference Finals.
The drama network averaged a 5.1 U.S. household rating and 8.1 million viewers with Game 4 in which the Indiana Pacers evened the series against the Miami Heat, according to Nielsen Fast Nationals data. Those deliveries lifted TNT to the top of primetime on Tuesday across all of TV, broadcast and cable.
The Heat/Pacers Game 4 telecast was up 26% in rating and 24% among viewers compared with the 4.1 mark and 6.5 million watchers TNT recorded with its presentation of Game 4 of the 2012 Western Conference Finals. (Under the national TV contracts, TNT and ESPN/ABC alternate coverage of the conference finals.)
Game 4 generated a 26.2 metered market rating in Miami and a 21.7 locally in Indianapolis. Miami is the 16th-largest DMA among the 56 metered markets, while Indianapolis ranks 24th.
Through four game telecasts, TNT has averaged 7.7 million total viewers for the 2013 NBA Eastern Conference Finals, up 7% compared with 7.2 million for the first four games of the 2012 NBA Western Conference. This year’s 4.8 rating has grown 4% over the 4.6 mark through the same number of games last year.
TNT has netted the four most-viewed 2013 NBA Playoff telecasts to date across broadcast and cable.
Additionally, TNT’s Sports Emmy Award-winning Inside the NBA studio show has averaged more than 3 million total viewers during the 2013 NBA Eastern Conference Finals.
