Two sports playoff series-ending games were the most talked about TV events on social media Thursday.

TNT’s Cleveland Cavaliers-Boston Celtics game five NBA Eastern Conference playoffs telecast was the most social TV show of the day, generating 2.3 million Twitter and Facebook interactions from 1.1 million unique accounts, according to Nielsen’s Social Content Ratings Chart for May 25. The Cavaliers defeated the Celtics to win the series and will meet the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals.

The Pittsburgh Penguins’ thrilling double overtime win over the Ottawa Senators in game seven of the NHL Conference Finals drew 1.4 million social media interactions Thursday to finish second for the day, according to Nielsen. The Penguins will now face the Nashville Predators in the NHL Stanley Cup finals.

NBC’s Red Nose Day special was the most social entertainment-based show on Thursday, generating 436,000 Tweets and Facebook mentions, according to Nielsen.
