Travel Channel has greenlit production of six new reality series set to debut in 2013, according to network officials.
The network will tap the food genre with new series All Forked Up, which pits food critics Al Mancini and John Curtas in a food feud; and Burger Land, in which host George Motz travels the county to find the ultimate burger.
Travel will also take viewers on an excavation for relics with its new series DigFellas, while competition series Fortune Diggers pits three teams in a face-off with metal detectors to unearth valuable artifacts. In Gem Hunt, gem dealer Ron LeBlanc investigates remote regions of the world searching for precious stones; while Monumental Mysteries will rediscover America’s great landmarks.
“From the untold stories of our monuments and the buried history uncovered by our relic-hunters, to discovering some of our nation's most interesting places to chow-down, and even trekking the world in search of rare gems, our new shows prove we are the leader in travel entertainment," says Travel Channel president Laureen Ong. “Our hosts are all authorities in their fields – and they take us along on their global thrill-rides.
