Upfronts 2013: NuvoTV Names Jennifer Lopez Chief Creative Officer

New York -- Actress/singer Jennifer Lopez will serve as Latino-targeted cable network NuvoTV’s new chief creative officer, the network announced during its upfront presentation here.

In her new role Lopez, who partnered with NuvoTV last September, will be involved in network programming and on-air decisions as well as the development of several original shows for the English-language network, according to NuvoTV CEO Michael Schwimmer.

“Jennifer has real good instincts and she’s been pretty successful in what she touches,” Schwimmer told Multichannel News. “She’ll even weight in on shows that don’t come from her company (Nuyorican Productions). We want her opinion and we seek her input.”

Among the new shows launching on NuvoTV include The Jennifer Lopez Biography Special (working title), featuring an unprecedented intimate look into Lopez’ personal life and career; Gotta Dance, a behind-the-scenes look at the lives of professional back-up dancers on world tour with Lopez; and Rodney’s Joy, a docu-series featuring Grammy award-winning producer, Rodney "Dark Child" Jerkins and his wife Joy Enriquez, a Mexican American former pop-star, who put her career on hold to raise a family.

Also on the docket is Oribe, a docu-series showcasing the life and times of controversial Cuban-American celebrity hairstylist Oribe Canales;  Anjelah Johnson - The Homecoming Show, a comedy special featuring the comedian, actress and YouTube sensation;  and Stand Up And Deliver, a comedy program showcasing current, top Latino comics hosted by Julissa Bermudez and Jose Sarduy.

The network will also feature television show and actor Mario Lopez in a Hollywood insider interview show dubbed Mario Lopez: One-on-One.

NuvoTV also unveiled a new on-air look and new logo along with a new tag line – We Are It – which will launch July 1. Also debuting that day will be a new refreshed website www.mynuvotv.com, said network officials.
