USA Network Greenlights Sophomore Campaign For ‘Queen Of The South’

USA Network has renewed its drug-themed drama series Queen Of The South for a second season, the network said Tuesday.

The series, which stars Alice Braga (I Am Legend) as a woman who is forced to run and seek refuge in America after her drug-dealing boyfriend is unexpectedly murdered in Mexico, will feature a new showrunner, Natalie Chaidez (12 Monkeys) for the second season, according to network officials.

The series, a co-production between Fox 21 Television Studios and Universal Cable Productions, is averaging 2.2 million viewers in live + 7 day Nielsen ratings.

Queen of The South will air its freshman season finale Sept. 15, said the network.
