Animated series ILL-ustrated returns to VH1’s lineup Monday, May 17 at 11:30 p.m. (EST/PST), the network said Monday.

The series is loosely based on cartoons by series creator Bob Cesca, founder of Camp Chaos Entertainment, who has been releasing similar short cartoons on his Web site ( since 1998.

"It's purely a sketch comedy show with roots in SNL [Saturday Night Live], Mr. Show, Ernie Kovacs and Kids in the Hall," Cesca said in a prepared statement. "But because the show is animated, we can further push the limits of sanity. And since we come from the Internet, our idea of 'sanity' is pretty twisted."

Stars who will lend their voice to the series include Jay Mohr, Michael Ian Black, Ron Jeremy, Hal Sparks and Kathy Griffin.
