WE Tv has teamed with the NAACP to develop public service announcements touting the achievements of African-American women.
The PSA’s, part of the civil rights organization’s “Unsung Heroes of Black History” initiative, will feature Toni Braxton, star of Braxton Family Values, as well as stars of other WE TV shows including Mary Mary, Tamar & Vince, LA Hair, Kendra on Top and My Fair Wedding: Unveiled sharing their stories of triumph and achievement, according to WE TV officials. Each story will be accompanied with photos and will drive viewers to share their own stories, celebrating women in their lives who have changed – and continue to change – the world with big and small actions every day.
Along with the on-air PSA’s, the partnership will also include a co-branded area on www.wetv.com and http://naacp-unsung-heroes.tumblr.com/. The initiative will also feature a robust social media campaign.
“We are proud to partner with such a remarkable organization as the NAACP and give our viewers a meaningful way to celebrate Black History Month,” said WE tv President & General Manager, Kim Martin in a statement. “As a network that celebrates strong, successful African American women, we are honored to share the stories of the dedicated and passionate people who have influenced the lives of our viewers and our stars, like the Braxton sisters and Mary Mary, and shine a spotlight on those unsung heroes.”
