Wiggles' Busy Day In Comcast Tower

On Sunday, Aug. 23, Australian musical troupe The Wiggles played Philadelphia's Wachovia Spectrum, rocking out before young fans and parents. The next day —their “day off” — the quartet came to preschool channel Sprout's offices at Comcast's downtown tower to prep for and do satellite interviews with 20-plus TV stations across the country.

Why? The Wiggles' new show — Sprout's Wiggly Waffle — debuted on the network Monday at 7 a.m.

The colorful quartet also performed live on Sprout's Sunny Side Up Show, receiving a Sprout-record 25,000 phone calls from all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Saskatchewan, from 9 a.m. to noon. About two dozen kids' calls made it to air.

Good thing those fellows have lots of energy — and yummy fruit salad!

Interviews were done on the 41st floor and Sunny Side Up is on the 24th, so there was constant motion on the elevators and at various times the four became pairs of two.

“Unbelievably, everything went off without a hitch,” network spokeswoman Jenni Glenn said.

After Sunny Side Up, lunch (with hot potatoes?) and then off in the Wiggly bus to Hershey Park, Pa., for the tour's next stop.
