Wonder Women Event Taps Stars As Hosts

Carrie Keagan, Sanya Richards-Ross, Debby Ryan Will Host March 19 Luncheon In NYC 2/25/2013 10:46 AM Eastern

Stars from VH1, WE tv and Disney Channel will co-host the 15th annual Wonder Women luncheon on March 19 in New York City, honoring high-powered media executives from a range of TV operations, distribution and programming disciplines.

Carrie Keagan, host and producer of Big Morning Buzz Live With Carrie Keagan on VH1; Sanya Richards-Ross, co-star of the upcoming docuseries Glam & Gold on WE tv, and Debby Ryan, star and producer of Jessie on Disney Channel will help honor a dozen Wonder Women and a dozen Women to Watch at the Hilton New York. The event is produced by Multichannel News in conjunction with the New York Chapter of Women In Cable Telecommunications. Carrie Keagan, who made her splashy debut online, has become one of television’s most sought-after personalities. Sanya Richards-Ross, a four-time Olympic Gold Medalist, and her husband, NFL star Aaron Ross, stars of the upcoming Glam & Gold docuseries on WE tv, have achieved athletic superstar status. She garnered two Gold Medals from the London 2012 Olympics in track and field, and Aaron has just signed a $15 million contract as cornerback for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Sanya Richards-RossThe first American woman to do so in 28 years, and only the second in history, Richards-Ross became Olympic champion over 400 meters at the 2012 Games in London by overtaking the competition in the last 50 meters of the race. The London games also saw her become tied as one of the most decorated female track and field Olympians of all time after anchoring the 4x400-meter relay team to gold for the third consecutive time.

A banner year in her career, the 2012 season got off to a roaring start for Richards-Ross. Having set four world-leading times over 200 and 400 meters in her first three competitions of the season, electing to participate in indoor competition for the first time in several years proved beneficial. Being crowned 400-meter World Indoor Champion and helping her teammates win the Silver as the anchor in the 4x400 relay was the icing on the cake on her journey to her ultimate gold of becoming Olympic Champion in her flagship event.

Other career highlights for Richards-Ross include her 2011 induction into The University of Texas’ Hall of Honor and being crowned world champion in the 4x400-meter relay. In 2009, she also was world champion at 400 meters and in the 4x400-meter relay.

Debby Ryan stars as Jessie in the Disney Channel comedy series Jessie, playing a starry-eyed teenager, born and raised in a military family, who ventures to New York City to make her dreams come true. Once arriving in New York, she winds up becoming a nanny to four gregarious kids. Ryan also is a producer of the hit series, now in its second season.

Debby RyanRyan also starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie Radio Rebel and is well known for her starring role as Bailey Pickett on the hit Disney Channel series The Suite Life on Deck. In 2010, she starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie 16 Wishes. In addition to singing the movie's theme song, "A Wish Comes True Everyday," she co-wrote a second track, "Open Eyes," with her singer-songwriter brother, Chase. Committed to humanitarian work and social justice, she originated the role of a Disney Friends for Change Ambassador, helping to encourage kids and families to make a lasting, positive change by helping people, communities, and the planet.

Ryan made her feature film debut in The Longshots, alongside Keke Palmer and Ice Cube, and more recently starred in What If, opposite Kevin Sorbo, John Ratzenberger and Kristy Swanson. Having spent her early years in Alabama, Texas and Germany, Ryan is heavily involved in music; she and Chase have built a home studio where they've begun working on cover songs and creating original content from the ground up, both for other artists and herself. She hopes one day to launch a record label. When not working on her television, film, and music projects, Ryan loves to make s'mores in her backyard with friends, read, take photos, and orchestrate road trip adventures.
