‘Battleground’ Pins Sunday’s Social Media Crown

WWE’s pay-per-view event Battleground wrestled the top spot among the most social shows on Sunday, according to Nielsen’s Twitter TV Ratings report.

The PPV event, which was also streamed live on the pro wrestling outfit’s WWE Network OTT service, drew 292,000 Tweets last night that reached 1.9 million unique Twitter users, said Nielsen.

ABC’s Celebrity Family Feud game show reached 1.3 million unique users to finish second while Sunday’s episode of HBO’s True Detective drew a little over 1 million tweets to finish third. CBS’s Big Brother and Spike’s mini-series Tut rounded out the top five for the night.

ESPN’s third round coverage of the 2015 Open Championship golf tournament was the most social sports show of the day, generating 58,000 tweets and reaching 3.1 million unique Twitter users, said Nielsen.
