ZTE Projects Sling TV

It’s not on Sling TV’s official list of supported devices, but ZTE USA says its new WiFi-only HD projector has the guts to support the OTT-TV service and various other apps available via the Google Play store.

ZTE said the newest  version of the Spro 2, which sells for $549.98 and comes equipped with a WiFi, comes pre-loaded with Sling TV as well as JBL audio.

According to the specs, the device also supports HD (up to 720p), a viewable screen size of 20 inches to 120 inches, and a 5-inch touch screen. The Spro 2 runs the Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS, HDMI output, a USB port and a Micro SD card slot.

“We are excited to deliver a Wi-Fi only Spro 2 device for consumers who still want the flexibility it provides at home and at work, but may not want it added to a new or existing data plan,” said Lixin Cheng, chairman and CEO of ZTE USA, in a statement.

ZTE also sells a $600 version that has a built-in Verizon LTE hotspot and integrated WiFi that also runs Android 4.4.
