International Drives Discovery Results

Discovery Communications revenue rose 14% in the third quarter, all due to increases at its international networks, as its U.S. networks saw revenue fall 1%.

Domestic revenue was down in the period as a 1% increase in U.S. ad revenue was not enough to counter 3% declines in affiliate fees. Internationally, revenue rose about 32%. Overall cash flow increased 8%, as a 25% gain internationally offset flat domestic performance.

"Discovery’s strong global organic growth and reach coupled with increasing contributions from our recent strategic acquisitions led to another quarter of solid results,” Discovery CEO David Zaslav said in a statement. “Our expansive content portfoliot of the global pay-TV market. Going forward, we remain committed to investing in world-class content, building the next generation of businesses and brands and leveraging our diversified and well-positioned worldwide assets to deliver consistent operational and financial results and long-term shareholder value."
