Outdoor Channel HD Gains Charter Launches in North Texas

Rollouts Are Underway and Will Continue through June 4/03/2013 7:13 AM Eastern

Outdoor Channel is building its high-definition presence with Charter Communications in North Texas.

As part of Charter’s all-digital initiative that encompasses an expansion of its high-definition channel lineup, Outdoor Channel HD will roll out to the MSO’s customers in Weatherford and Cleburne in early April.

Launches will continue through June with Charter subscribers in Fort Worth, Highland Park, Azle, Granbury and University Park gaining access to Outdoor Channel HD over that span. Deal terms were not disclosed.

Outdoor Channel is available in standard definition on channel 293, and on Charter’s Sports View Tier and Digital Tier 2. Outdoor HD will be available to HD customers on the same tiers on channel 713.

The MSO’s customers and other subscribers around the country can check out two new shows that are now part of Outdoor’s second-quarter programming lineup, Dark and Dangerous with Ivan Carter, which bowed on April 1, and Marc & Todd’s Crazy Clips, scheduled to debut on April 30.

All told, the network is returning 80 shows in the quarter, including a new round of Jack Link’s Major League Fishing, where 24 anglers will compete in Florida for the Geico Cup.

“Previously only available in standard definition, we continue to expand our relationship with Charter and are pleased to now offer their North Texas subscribers the only outdoor adventure network featuring the top talent within the industry and our premiere slate of programming in HD,” said Randy Brown, executive vice president, affiliate sales and marketing, Outdoor Channel, in a statement. “Texas is home to many of our top talent, and is often featured as prime hunting and fishing ground on the network. This HD upgrade will allow local viewers to see the great Lone Star state in a whole new light, through the pristine quality of Outdoor Channel’s high definition network.”

Noted Charter regional vice president John Owen: “We are pleased to work with Outdoor Channel to bring their top hunting, shooting, fishing and adventure programming to the outdoorsmen and women of North Texas. A good portion of our customers in the region are outdoor enthusiasts, and this HD upgrade is well-suited to their core interests.”
