2012 Olympics: Telemundo Doubles Beijing among Total Audience, Viewers 18-498/13/2012 7:44 PM Eastern
With the final day from London yet to be calculated, Telemundo Media's coverage of the 2012 Summer Games had more than doubled the broadcaster's audience from the 2008 competition in Beijing.
"The U.S. Home of the Olympic Games in Spanish" more than doubled its audience from the 2008 Beijing Olympics among total viewers and persons 18 to 49 through Aug. 11, according to network officials. Tailored to the Latino community, the cumulative viewership of 19.3 million total viewers was 29% above the Beijing Olympics over the same period.
Telemundo's tally was boosted by the "Great Golden Final" between Brazil and Mexico on Aug. 11 at 10 a.m. (ET), which stood as the most-watched Olympic event in the network's history, averaging 3.6 million total viewers. Coverage of El Tri's 2-1 over Brazil also stands as highest-rated delivery among all weekend daytime soccer telecasts in the network's history.
Digitally, users averaged 111.4 streaming minutes per viewer on the web and 94.3 streaming minutes per viewer on the dedicated Olympic app through Saturday,
