6.6M Watch 2005 BET Awards

Black Entertainment Television said Friday that its 2005 BET Awards was the most-watched telecast in the network's history.

The three-and-a-half-hour event, which aired live from Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre Tuesday at 8 p.m. (EST), drew 6.6 million viewers and 4.1 million households and posted a 5.1 Nielsen Media Research rating, the network said.

BET said total viewers jumped 16% versus 5.7 million from 2004, households rose 12% and the event’s overall rating climbed 11%.

BET will present encore showings of the 2005 BET Awards Friday at 7:30 p.m. (EST/PST) and Monday at 8 p.m.
