C-SPAN Set To Park Civics Bus At Indianapolis Schools

C-SPAN's civics bus, with Bright House Networks in tow, will be stopping at two Indianapolis schools early next year.
Part of a national tour for C-SPAN's public affairs initiative, the vehicle is scheduled to park at Irvington Preparatory Academy from 10 a.m. to noon on Jan. 5 and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. that day at Herron High School of the Arts.

Each stop will provide students, teachers and the general public an opportunity to tour the C-SPAN civics bus and learn about the network's public affairs programming, engage in discussion about government and media and receive info about C-SPAN's free civics resources.
In addition, students, with an assist from Bright House, will also learn more about C-SPAN's 2010 StudentCam documentary film competition. The cable operator is inviting all students from grades 6 through 12 to produce a five- to eight-minute video documentary on either one of the nation's greatest strengths or a specific challenge the country is facing.
C-SPAN will award a total of $50,000 in cash prizes this year, including 75 student awards and 11 teacher awards. The deadline to enter the 2010 competition is Jan. 20. For more, visit www.studentcam.org.
