CTAM Live: Discovery Familia Adds Preschool Slate

BOSTON--Starting Nov. 17, Discovery Familia will add a new slate of preschool series within its Discovery Kids en Español daytime block that, like the rest of the block, aims at providing children with positive social role models that celebrate their Hispanic culture and stimulate their motor, social and cognitive skills.

“Discovery Familia is proud to deliver the most hours of Spanish-language preschool programming available, which we hope encourages kids to become lifelong learners,” Luis Silberwasser, senior vice president and general manager at Discovery Networks U.S. Hispanic Group, said in a release.

The centerpiece of the new slate is Mister Maker, a series that already boasts a tremendous following in England and Latin America and will transport children on voyages through the fantastic universe of arts and crafts while arousing their imagination. It premieres on Nov. 17, and airs Monday-Sunday at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. ET.

Fifi and the Flowertots (Fifi y los Floriguitos), Monday-Sunday at 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. ET, celebrates the outdoors and encourages children to lead a healthy lifestyle. Fifi is a playful and inquisitive young Flowertot, who inhabits a colorful garden world with her Flowertot friends.

The third show is FluffyGardens (Fabulópolis), Saturday-Sunday at 12:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. It features an eccentric mix of characters that all live in Fluffy Gardens. Each episode showcases a character recounting a story with a gently-paced narrative targeted at children old enough for their first bedtime story.
