FCC Members to Highlight Broadband Confab9/24/2004 9:33 AM Eastern
The third National Summit on Broadband Deployment has attracted some high-level government officials this year.
Federal Communications Commission members Jonathan Adelstein, Michael Copps and Kevin Martin, as well as National Telecommunications and Information Administration administrator Michael Gallagher, will hold a roundtable at the summit, sponsored by the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners and the National Exchange Carrier Association.
The confab will also feature FCC commissioner Kathleen Abernathy; sessions on “International Broadband Deployment,” “The Business of Rural Broadband” and “Breaking Broadband out of the Financial Doldrums”; and "The Great Debate III-Rewriting the Telecom Act of 1996," which will include representatives from all sectors -- industry, government, consumer groups, nonprofits, incumbents and competitors.
The National Summit on Broadband Deployment will be held Oct. 25-26 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Va.
