Food’s Iron Chef America Sizzles

The debut episode of Food Network’s Iron Chef America cooked up a ratings record for the channel.

The Iron Chef spinoff show posted a 1.24 Nielsen Media Research household rating Sunday night, marking the highest-rated regularly scheduled program ever during primetime for Food, the network said Thursday.

Ratings for Iron Chef America were up 80% compared with the network’s first-quarter-2004 time-period average, and that margin rose to 164% for adults 25-54.
