Fox News Tops VP-Debate Ratings

Fox News Channel drew the largest audience among cable news channels, 7.8 million viewers, for the vice-presidential debate Tuesday.

Fox News was ahead of Cable News Network’s 3.3 million viewers and MSNBC’s 1.5 million from 9 p.m.-10:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to Nielsen Media Research data supplied Wednesday by Fox.

NBC drew the most viewers for the debate, with 11.5 million, with ABC tallying 10.3 million, CBS doing 9.2 million and PBS drawing 3.3 million.

Fox News’ viewership was up 454% compared with the 2000 VP debate, while CNN’s was up 59%.
