FTC Releases COPPA Rule Change FAQs

Lack of Info Had Been Cited by Online Advertisers for Delaying Implementation of Rule Changes 4/25/2013 10:18 AM Eastern

The Federal Trade Commission has released the FAQs accompanying its planned updates of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule,  scheduled to take effect July 1.

The fact that those had not yet been released was one of the reasons that online advertisers gave in a letter earlier this week asking the FTC to move that date from July 1 to Jan. 1, 2014.

The FAQs include what is now defined as personal information, when the rule changes go into effect -- still July 1 -- who is covered, how to file complaints against alleged violators and much more.
