Kids Choose Nick’s Kids’ Choice

With Adam Sandler, Hilary Duff, Will Smith, Usher and Raven among those taking home honors, Nickelodeon’s 18th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards was the top-rated show in primetime among kids and tweens last week.

The April 2 slimefest earned a 12.6 rating among kids 6-11 and 2.5 million of those viewers, the most ever for a kids’ awards show, according to Nickelodeon officials. The performance represented an 11% gain over last year’s Kids’ Choice Awards, according to Nielsen Media Research data.

Among kids 2-11, the show generated a 9.6 rating (3.1 million of those watchers), 2% more than the prior year’s show. As for tweens 9-14, Kids’ Choice grabbed a 10.2 mark (2.1 million of those viewers), a 12% jump from the 2004 version of the event.

On a household basis, Kids’ Choice scored a 3.9 rating and 5.2 million viewers overall, according to Nielsen data.

The awards show, hosted by Ben Stiller at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion, encores April 5 at 5 p.m. and April 9 at 6 p.m. (all times EST/PST).
